Well done Sally. Your account was very reminiscent of my own swim in 1988 (F-E 14:58). I had failed in 84 & 86 and no one really gave me a hope, but somehow I made it. I recognise all the experience and emotions you went through, you describe it so well. It is harder and therefore a greater triumph for the slow swimmer than a fast one.
My swim changed me, and I expect yours will change you. It left me more confident that I could do things, and more determined to do them - not just in swimming. Use what the Channel has give you in all parts of your life, it is a gift hard earned, but one that can bring many further rewards. Well done.

Tim Cheesman

Sally, I phoned Freda on the beach and hope that she passed on a hug from me. Your dogged resolve during training inspires me to swim on regardless. I relate to you because I am a slow swimmer and have never been a sprinter. I'm always being passed in the harbour by the speedsters. Now you are a member of a very exclusive club. You have swum the English Channel and you did it on pure grit and determination.
Well done on a great swim and a great piece of writing.

Steven Lord

Well done Sally. Truly a top effort. The fact my friends are impressed that I know someone who has just swam the channel should give an idea of just how impressed your friends are of you.

victor malwa

well done, my inspiration!! What next now; double with me?

Sophie

What great comments! My heart was thumping reading the last bit..as though I had been there.....wait a minute I WAS! love Sophie

Sal

I,ve been offline for a while, so delayed congrats. I think I was crossing under channel in the tunnel, as you were nearing end of your swim.

Congratulations and well done!

Who the hell would want to swim back to the boat anyway? You did what it 'said on the packet' - swim the channel, why the hell should you need to start to swim back to the boat, dammit?

I look forward to congratulating you in person at Cally pool sometime soon!

Shawn

Sally, so happy for you!!! Huge respect!!! Truly awesome. Full rundown expected next time we catch up.

Amy

WOW! what a journey! I'm incredibly impressed and am sending you big CONGRATS from the U.S.

My swimming coach (Dave Cameron/ Minneapolis MN) did a Channel swim and is training for a Double.

I'm grateful to finish my 0.9 mile swim for Olympic distance triathlons...

You Channel Champions are really some thing else!

Morag

Sally, a belated huge congratulations to you. A fantastic account of an awesome achievement! I had tears in my eyes as you struggled through.
Really enjoyed the whole "series".
You rule!!!
